Eight horses line-up for HH Sheikha Fatima Bint Mubarak Apprentice World Championship race in Kazan on Sunday
The HH Sheikh Mansoor Bin Zayed Al Nahyan Global Arabian Horse Flat Racing Festival breaks new ground on Sunday when eight amateur jockeys line up for the the HH Sheikha Fatima Bint Mubarak Apprentice World Championship at the Hippodrome Kazan in Tatarstan on Sunday, August 30, as part of the country’s National Day.
Director of Hippodrome Kazan Sergei Vasilko along with Adnan Sultan Al Nuaimi, Director General of Abu Dhabi Equestrian Club and Ms Lara Sawaya, Executive Director of the HH Sheikh Mansoor Bin Zayed Al Nahyan Global Arabian Horse Flat Racing Festival, Chairperson of the Int'l Federation of Horse Racing Academies (IFHRA) and Chairperson of Ladies & Apprentice Racing Committees in the International Federation of Arabian Horse Racing Authorities (IFAHR) and Russian official Vladimir Chokovska held the draw on Saturday in which the eight amateur jockeys were paired with the eight horses.
Korean Sicheon Park with 49 wins from 1293 starts will be on Mober, Russian Valeriy Burnakov with just five starts and winless will be on Apriori, Malaysian Amirul Adli Ismadi (293 starts, 26 wins) will ride Palm, China’s Zue Liu (396 starts, 44 wins) will ride Bobrik, Polish amateur Iuliia Bieliak (79 starts, 16 wins) will partner Beslan, Emil Kunakbaev of Russia with 2 wins from 28 starts will be on Dochy Causasus, Hungarian Zsuzsa Timar (463 starts, 31 wins) will ride Katrusya and British jockey Aaron Jones ( 253 starts, 19 wins) will be on Plezara.
Director of Kazan Racecourse Sergei Vasilko said, “We are delighted to host the 7th round of the HH Sheikha Fatima Bint Mubarak International Apprentice World Championship which coincides with the 10th anniversary of the construction of the racecourse itself. The HH Sheikh Mansoor Bin Zayed Al Nahyan Arabian Horse Flat Racing Festival has become an international brand and the events which are staged under its umbrella have caught the attention of the world.”
“This is a very exciting event as the Festival’s race is part of the National Day race meeting here in Kazan. The HH Sheikha Fatima Bint Mubarak International Apprentice World Championship is over a distance of 1600 metres and the prize money on offer is Euros 20,000,” said Ms Sawaya.
“The focus is to take the championship to as many new venues as possible to give Amateur jockeys more opportunities,” she said.
Ms Sawaya also welcomed the request of Tatarstan to join the Abu Dhabi-headquartered Internationall Federation of Horse Racing Academies (IFHRA) and also said that jockeys from Russia will be invited to take part in the Festival’s year-ending extravaganza in Abu Dhabi in November.
